[the short version]
no cookies. no accounts. no advertising. nothing is sold, shared for marketing, or used to build a profile of you, and nothing follows you to other websites.
two values are kept in your browser so the player remembers your place. page views are counted without cookies. the audio comes from SoundCloud, which is what tells them you are listening. and if you send a correction or a message, it is stored and e-mailed to me, and nothing else happens to it.

a fan project run by one person in their free time, not affiliated with Podz-Glidz or Lu-Glidz — see [about]. that person is the controller for anything described here. the way to reach them is the form, which is also how to ask for any of the things under [your rights] below.
[what is stored in your browser]
no cookies are set, by this site or by anything on it. two values are written to local storage:
pg:rate- the playback speed you chose, so the next episode starts at the same speed. one number.
pg:pos:<episode>- how many seconds into an episode you had got, one entry per episode you have opened, so you can pick it up where you left it — in any language, since the key is the episode rather than the page. it is deleted automatically when you reach the end of an episode.
neither of these ever leaves your browser. nothing sends them anywhere, no other site can read them, and clearing this site's data in your browser removes them for good. they exist only to make the player behave the way you left it.
[what your browser contacts]
opening an episode page makes requests to three places other than this site. every one of them learns your IP address, because that is how the web works — a request has to come from somewhere.
- SoundCloud
- the audio itself. episodes stream from Lucian Haas's original feed and nothing is re-hosted here, so playing an episode means fetching it from SoundCloud, and they see your IP address and which episode you opened. this starts when the page loads rather than when you press play, because the player asks the file how long it is in order to draw the timeline.
- Cloudflare (hosting)
- serves these pages. like any web server it keeps short-lived logs — IP address, page, time, browser — which exist to keep the site up and to deal with attacks and abuse.
- Cloudflare Web Analytics
- counts page views, so I know whether anyone is reading this at all. it sets nothing on your device, uses no cookies, and builds no identifier that follows you between sites or between visits. it is aggregate counting, not tracking.
- Cloudflare Turnstile
- only if you use one of the forms, and only once you start typing in it — it is not loaded on a page you are just reading. it is the check that a submission is coming from a person rather than a script, in place of a captcha you would have to solve.
[if you send a correction or a message]
there are two forms — the [fix] button on a German transcript, and the general form on [about]. they are voluntary; you can use the whole site without either. what is stored when you submit one:
- what you wrote
- the words you marked as wrong and what you think they should say, or the text of your message. plus the episode and the timecode, for a correction.
- your e-mail address
- only if you chose to fill it in, and used only to reply to you. the field is optional and submissions are accepted without it.
- the page you came from
- so a report about "this page" is not a mystery. no browsing history beyond that.
- your IP address
- stored with the submission for 30 days, and counted for an hour against a limit on how many one person can send. it is there so abuse can be dealt with, and for nothing else.
it is stored in Cloudflare KV and e-mailed to me through Resend. both act on my instructions only, and both are US companies, so that transfer rests on their standard data protection terms. nobody else sees any of it. the legal basis is a legitimate interest in keeping the transcripts correct and the site usable — and, for an e-mail address, the fact that you chose to give it.
a submission is a suggestion, not an edit. every one is read by a person and checked against the audio before anything changes, and a correction that is accepted becomes a spelling rule in the pipeline — not a public post. nothing you send is published, and your name or address never appears on the site.
[how long it is kept]
- the two values in your browser
- until you clear them, or — for a playback position — until you finish that episode.
- corrections and messages
- 30 days, after which the store deletes them by itself — the IP address that came with them included. one that has been dealt with sooner is deleted sooner. the e-mail copy in my inbox is what outlives that, and it is what I actually work from.
- the abuse counter
- one hour, after which it deletes itself.
- server logs
- Cloudflare's own retention, which is days rather than months.
- page-view counts
- aggregate totals only — there is no record of an individual visit to keep or to delete.
[your rights]
you can ask what is held about you, ask for it to be corrected or deleted, object to it being held at all, or ask for a copy. the way to ask is the form — quote enough of what you sent that it can be found, since without an e-mail address there is nothing else linking a submission to you.
you can also complain to a data protection authority in the country you live in, if you think something here is being done wrongly.
[what is not done]
no advertising, no advertising networks, and no third-party trackers or social buttons. no profiling and no automated decisions about anybody. nothing is sold or handed to anyone for marketing. there are no accounts, so there is nothing to sign up for and no password to lose.

this describes the site as it stands today. it is a small project and it changes; if what it does with data changes, this page changes with it.
